We Love You Michael

(Image from tipoyok’s Flickr)

My uncle Halim asked me yesterday what my feelings were on Michael Jackson’s death.

I said, “Uncle, you’d be hard-pressed to find a child of the Eighties who didn’t, at one point or another, try to do the Moonwalk.”

We love you, Micheal. Rest in peace.

The User Experience Designer’s Anthem – Part 2

(Image from Daniel Heaf’s Flickr)

Whitney Hess, you were indeed on to something when you declared Coldplay’s Fix You as the User Experience Designer’s Anthem.

Last night, I was driving home when I suddenly realized that The Klaxons ‘Not Over Yet’ could be a user experience anthem, too.

So, for the benefit of folks who haven’t heard of The Klaxons (or haven’t been to  Twilight Action Girl), here are the lyrics:

The Klaxons ‘Not Over Yet’

I’ll live for you
I’d die for you
Do what you want me to
I’ll cry for you
My tears will show
That I can’t let you go

It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
You still want me, don’t you
It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
Cos I can see through you
It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet

Don’t let me down
Don’t make a sound
Don’t throw it all away
Remember me
So tenderly
Don’t let it slip away

It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
You still want me, don’t you
It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
Cos I can see through you
It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet

Ooooh…
Yeahh…

I’ll live for you
I’d die for you
Do what you want me to
I’ll cry for you
My tears will show
That I can’t let you go

It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
You still want me, don’t you
It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
Cos I can see through you
It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
You still want me, don’t you
It’s not over, not over, not over, not over yet
‘Cos I can see through you.

Thanks for the inspiration, Whitney.

Kembali

This is quite possibly the best Butterfingers album ever.

Seven years ago, I’d never have thought that I’d ever hear Emmett sing in Malay, let alone release a whole album of Malay songs.

But a lot of things can happen in seven years. I am glad their music has turned out the way it has.

Sundays are for brainstroms

(Image form Nora)

Yup, brainstroms.

It’s a personal joke between me and Nora.

You’ll never get it, so don’t trip.

By the way, Urbanscapes was fun.

It was great meeting up with Nora’s friends, hanging with old buddies like Shinji, Words, Cliq and the rest as well as enjoying some (very necessary) personal space away from work etc.

Yes, because today it’s back to work-mode; I have a brainstrom later at 2pm with Ari and Tony.

I’m gonna give us half an hour before the discussion diverts to Web Standards trivia, Death Cab for Cutie and girls.

If it was with Irwan, Keith or Jo, the discussion would inevitably divert to DJing, drum n bass and girls.

LOL

Have a good Sunday.

The Rebel Scum – Bak Datang The Video

The Rebel Scum’s video for, Bak Datang, their first Malay single, is finally out on YouTube.

I remember being invited to the shoot, sometime last year, but I had to decline because I was working on a pitch.

(And the shoot was scheduled on a Sunday afternoon. Yeah, what the fuck, right?)

Well, too bad. Otherwise I could’ve been making a fool of myself (as I usually do) up there with the rest of the crew.

Check The Rebel Scum’s blog for a higher-definition video.

Oh yeah and nice work, Perez and Cody!

Ni Ten Ichi Ryu

So, what’s the point of having a blog if, like, you don’t post your most favorite drum n bass video ever?

I listened to Photek’s Ni Ten Ichi Ryu way before I saw the video, but when I watched the video, it was like I was listening to the track for the first time ever.

The choreography and symbolism was something far beyond what I expected of a dnb video, which, at the time, typically featured b-boys from the ghetto dancing under typical inner city underpasses.

Needless to say, Photek will always be one of my heroes because after I watched this video, drum n bass became more than drum n bass.

Hope you like it, too.
