I’d look forward to an international award any time rather than something only recognized more in Malaysia than even Asia.

Me too. But hate it or love it, the Kancils is homegrown. It’s our only ad festival and awards show, and if you’re in advertising, it’s also the best way to gauge what’s out there and who’s doing the best work – both real and scams.
